OUR AIMS & OBJECTIVES                GOALS

The Helping Hand Charity was established in 1997 by the medical staff at the Children's Hospital, with the single aim of helping the children in their care.  The hospital has been caring for children since 1873 and, in 2007, now provides most of the paediatric regional specialities for Northern Ireland.

Increasing pressures on the National Health Service make it essential to find additional sources of revenue - to provide the best equipment, to fund research and education and to support the immediate needs of children and their parents.

We have provided equipment that enables the hospital to continue the development of laparoscopic micro-surgery and also funded the construction and equipping of an education facility for in-house training of nursing and medical staff and a training skills laboratory where parents are taught the skills required to continue their children's  medical treatment at home.  We are presently involved in the establishment of a quiet room in the hospital where parents can rest and be alone in times of severe stress.

By supporting Helping Hand , you will be helping to purchase vital new equipment to diagnose and treat the hospital's young patients, to provide facilities and services  for families and to fund research into children's illnesses.
