OUR AIMS & OBJECTIVES GOALS
Helping Hand Charity was established by the medical staff at the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children in 1997 with the single aim of helping the children in their care.
Helping Hand is an independant Charity which operates through a board of trustees and fundraises exclusively for "The Children's".
Increasing pressures on the N.H.S. make it essential to find additional sources of revenue - to provide the best equipment, to fund research and education and to support the immediate needs of children and their parents.
The Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children has been caring for children since 1873. Today Royal Children's is a 110 bed hospital which functions as a district general hospital and also houses most of the Paediatric Regional specialties for Northern Ireland.
Last year the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children treated over 11,000 inpatients, 5,000 of which were emergencies, plus 45,000 outpatient and Accident and Emergency cases.
Helping Hand began with only voluntary assistance. In the Spring of 2000 the charity set up a small fundraising department in order to raise public awareness of the need for support and to raise vital funds for our work with sick children.
By supporting Helping Hand , you will be helping to purchase vital new equipment to diagnose and treat the hospital's young patients, to provide facilities and services for families and to fund research into children's illnesses.
